I’m running around ordering windows and doors today, so only have time for a quick update. But here is the update on our house demolition.
After only one week, things are moving swiftly along with the renovation. Our builder Maarten and his assistant Paul have only been there 4 days, but so far they have:
- Ripped out the bathroom
- Torn down the internal bathroom walls
- Torn out the windows in the living room
- Taken the french doors off the back of the house
- Ripped out the internal part of our living room walls
- Taken down the internal part of the living room/bathroom room
- Dug a trench along the side of the house for the new footings
- Poured concrete in the trench as footings for the new wall
- Torn down the rotting side fence.
- The bathroom has been ripped out, along with the roof and the side walls.
- Goodbye rotting old fence
- The trench and concrete footings for our new wall. It will be a metre further out than the existing wall, so will give us more space in the house!
I’m trying not to get too excited by the speed at which things are moving – it is a lot easier to rip things down that it is to build things up! But it sure feels good to finally start seeing some progress.
Matt and I went over to see the house on Saturday and did some DIY stuff, so I will post that later in the week for you all to see.
