Hi friends,
Boy, a lot has happened since I last blogged about our main bedroom. The last post shows photos of the gyprock being installed, but since then our main bedroom has been completed! Here are some photos showing the progress over the past 6 weeks…
A while undercoat was applied to the walls and ceiling. Wiring was installed for the pendant light to hang down from the timber beam. Also, a TV outlet and powerpoints were installed on the right-hand wall.
Architraves were installed around the edge of of the doorways and skirting boards were installed along the bottom of the walls. These were all painted gloss white. The french doors (which were pulled out of an old home my parents own) were also painted gloss white.
A beautiful piece of Oregon timber was used as a support beam across the top of our study nook.
After applying the white base coat, the final colour was painted on the walls. We went with a light grey colour by Dulux called “Snow Season”. I love how subtle it is against the white of the ceiling. It adds a touch of colour to the room and allows the white-gloss doors, architraves and skirting boards to pop!
Next, the glass pendant was installed. We bought this light for $120 from a closing down sale. Bargain! The simplicity of this light allows the timber beam to be the centre of attention!
Finally, the carpet was ready to go in! We bought this beautiful blue-grey carpet from Harvey Norman. It’s called Relfection Pool and is part of the Creative Luxury line. (Unfortunately the line is discontinued). I spent many an afternoon in Harvey Norman, barefoot, walking around on the carpet samples.
I LOVE soft carpet, and this one was so cushy and comfy. Plus it had a subtle square pattern in it, which is more of a modern design and tied in well with our plan to keep the upstairs portion of the house modern.
In the photo above, you can see how the three colours tie in beautifully. The soft grey of the walls, the gloss white of the skirting boards and the blue-grey carpet. YUMMY!
So without further ado, our new bedroom…
Jack also thought the carpet was quite comfy…
Gosh I just LOVE the raked ceiling!
Upstairs is practically finished, I’ll show you the finished ensuite soon – it’s looking beautiful!

P.S In the next few days I’m going to conduct a survey about my blog. I want to know what you all love about it and what I could improve upon. So if you get a spare 60 seconds, would you be able to fill it out for me? It will only be about 10 multiple choice questions. I’ll post it soon. Thanks-in-advance! x
