Things are moving again! After a few weeks off over January, our builder is back on the job!
In one of my recent posts, I shared that the first floor structure had been completed before Christmas. Now, the second floor structure is on its way! As you can see, the stud walls are up, which will soon be followed by the brick walls.
The second floor will consist of our main bedroom, a balcony and an en-suite. One of the exciting things about the second floor going up, is checking out the view from our new bedroom. And it’s stellar!
Turns out, you can see Centrepoint Tower (or the AMP Tower, as I’m told it is now called… lame) and the Anzac Bridge. It will be lovely to stand on our balcony and look at these “city glimpses”. Do they still let off fireworks from Centrepoint on New Years Eve???
This next photo is taken from inside what will be our new bedroom, looking out towards what will be our balcony. It is north-facing, so we will get beautiful sunshine in through the french doors during the day.
The builders needed to climb up into the existing roof in order to start building the second floor, and look at the mess that fell down…
One hundred years of dust and dirt had been collecting in the roof, so the builder suggested I ring a Roof-Vacuumer to get it all cleaned out. Who knew such a person existed!? Turns out, they do. A thousand bucks later, we had a clean roof.
We thought it was really important to spend the money and clean out the roof, as all that dirt and dust really affects the air we breathe in the house. Particularly with a new baby living in the house, it was a must.
Hope to have the roof on next week, so will bring you some more news and pics then!
