Yesterday I wrote a post about our Laundry Layout Option #1. You can see that here. Today, I bring you, Option #2!
Option #1 makes use of the wall space along the length of the laundry. Option #2 makes use of the space around the window. I found this picture on Pinterest and thought it was a beautiful way to make a feature out of the laundry window.
Layout #2 ticks the following boxes:
- It has a large surface area of bench space
- The washer and dryer fit side by side
- It makes use of all extra space around the window for storage
We drew up a sketch using our dimensions, this is what it would look like:
If we use this layout, we need to figure out where to put the sink, broom cupboard and additional storage. So, we thought we could have a separate unit on the side-wall. This sketch is drawn looking side-on at the washer and dryer under the window. You can see the second unit with the sink and broom cupboard.
I love the look of this layout, as the window becomes a central component of the room. My main concern is that it might be a bit cramped, particularly when it comes to pulling clothes out of the dryer as there will be a sink behind me. Also, it would be great to have the sink next to the washing machine, which isn’t the case in this layout.
Oh dilemma dilemma!
While I stew over my decision, I thought I’d share these cool ideas with you! Firstly, these pullout drying racks would be amazing to have in a small laundry. Don’t ya think?
And secondly, how great are these washing baskets? Since I won’t have much room for storing dirty washing in my teeny tiny laundry, these would be perfect for hanging along the wall!
Well, that’s where I’m at with my laundry layout. I would love your feedback on our two layouts, if you’ve got time. Either in the comments section below this post or on Facebook would be great. So… which layout would you prefer???
