Greetings renovator-lovers!
Last week I shared with you our downstairs floor plans for our big reno, and this week I’ll share with you the UPSTAIRS renovation floor plans.
So in brief, currently there is NO upstairs. It is a single story house. We will therefore be building the second story from scratch. By “we” I clearly mean, our clever builders. Here is the upstairs floor plan…
As you can see, the upstairs “Parents Retreat” will consist of:
- The main bedroom
- A balcony over-looking the backyard
- A walk-in-wardrobe
- An en-suite with double sinks
- A build in desk
My husband Matt and I refer to the built-in-desk SLIGHTLY differently. I refer to it as my “Make-up and Dressing-Table Boudoir”. Matt refers to it as his desk. Whatever.
You may also notice there is a door that opens from the bathroom into the roof space. Since this is a small house, we need to make use of any storage space we can, so we plan to use the roof space to store camping gear, snow clothes, Matt’s basketball card collection (true story) etc. We will place a full length mirror over that door in the bathroom to disguise the door.
We would also LOVE to install a laundry chute in the en-suite, as it is situated directly above the laundry downstairs. We will need to chat to the builder about this though to see if we can make it work.
Happy to hear any ideas/feedback as we haven’t started building yet!
