Hi friends!
So last weekend a bunch of my awesome girlfriends and I hosted a baby shower for our gorgeous friend E! My girlfriends are super creative so we had lots of fun designing and decorating for the big event.
When picking the theme, we kept three things in mind:
- E is having a little boy
- E’s nickname is Squirrel
- We have just moved into the Autumn season (or as the American’s like to call it, Fall).
So we decided on a squirrel theme complete with Autumn trimmings!
The first move was to ask our friend Heather at Laughing Lemons to design a little image of a squirrel for us. She created digital templates for all the invitations and little labels using the squirrel! All we had to do was print them off.
We printed these cute cupcake wrap-around strips and attached with sticky tape. We also printed and cut out the cupcake flags, then attached them to toothpicks using double-sided tape.
We found a cute acorn stamp and stamped the paper cups ourselves. Again, we printed off the water bottle strips sent to us by Laughing Lemons and attached with double sided tape.
Food labels… just in case the guests thought these were hamburgers
A little something for the guests to take home. A yummy trail mix of course – squirrels love nuts! Clear plastic bags with our little squirrel design attached with tape.
An assortment of delicious candy in keeping with our blue colour scheme… and some brown paper bags for guests to stock up!
Simple autumn decorations. Pine cones, mason jars and baby’s breath!
We also organized a little activity. We took a wooden frame and attached ribbon to the back using thumb tacks. We asked each guest to write a piece of advice for the Mum-To-Be on one of the cut-out shapes and hung them on the ribbon. At the end of the event, we stuck the cut-outs in a little scrap book for her to keep as a memento.
The good news is, that Heather from Laughing Lemons can send you all the templates and designs via email so you Aussie readers can use her awesome services too. Check out her Etsy page too!
