I have a strange confession to make – I don’t like cooking but I love cooking shows! Go figure. Here’s my theory… if I didn’t have to deal with all the annoying parts of cooking, like trying to pull out the large pot at the bottom of the pile, or trying to find the can-opener or matching the lid to the tupperware container… maybe I could enjoy it a little more. So today, in the hope that it will provide more joy in the kitchen, I am bringing you 6 easy ways to update your storage system in the kitchen.
1. Tension Curtain Rods
These curtain tension rods are great to use in those tall, skinny cupboards. Instead of stacking trays and chopping boards flat on top of each other, make use of the tall space and store them vertically instead. Tension rods can be purchased from most hardware stores and are super easy to install – just twist until they are the right height.
2. Bakeware and Platter Stand
This nifty little item can be purchased from one of my favourite online stores – Lifespace for $39.95. The perfect solution for storing baking trays, pizza trays, shopping boards, cake-tins and platters. It will save you from the frustrating job of trying to stack these oddly shaped items, then trying to access the platter at the bottom of the pile!
3. Plate Stacker
For those of us that are a little short on cupboard space, this plate stacker from Howard’s Storage World is a great solution for you. It can be purchased for only $13.95 and will not only save you space, it will drastically decrease the odds of chipping your plates!
4. Kitchen Caddy
We are all familiar with caddies for the shower, but caddies for the kitchen are less common. However, I think they are a great tool for keeping the sink cupboard organised with sponges and detergents. Howard’s Storage World sell this small kitchen caddy for $19.95.
5. Pots and Pans Wall
Saucepans and their accompanying lids often take up a lot of room in a kitchen, and they can be tricky to store neatly. But by installing towel racks against a brightly coloured feature wall and buying a set of metal hooks – you can create a unique, modern and practical display of your pots and pans.
6. Tupperware Storage
We recently had a question from one of our readers regarding storage ideas for tupperware. So here is a great Tupperware Storage Video from Alejandra Costello. If you would like to use her great solution, Lifespace sell a two drawer sliding basket for $65.95.
