When it comes to decorating and organising the bathroom, we often forget one important thing: many bathroom items are pretty! We try to cram everything into the vanity and complain when there is not enough cupboard space, so how about we start pulling out the pretty items and putting them on display! It will not only create more cupboard space, it will pretty up the bathroom! Here are 6 clever ways to create storage solutions in your bathroom and pretty it up at the same time.
1. PVC Pipe
Cords in the bathroom are my arch-nemesis, I’m either tripping over them or untangling them. So, take your GHD or curling tongs to the local hardware store and ask some burly guy to point you in the direction of PVC pipe. Test the diameter needed for your tongs, and buy some 3M double sided foam tape to attach it to the inside of your cabinet door. Buy an extra cutting of pipe to store the chord too.
2. Lazy Susan
Often we have the space in our bathroom vanity to store all we need, but the problem is getting to it. So straight from the dining table to your bathroom comes… the Lazy Susan! An easy solution to accessing all those fake tan and moisturising lotions without knocking them all over in the process.- “Yes babe, I neeeeed all of them!” Click here to buy your own lazy susan for $32.95 from Kitchenware Direct.
3. Magnetic Strip
Is there are bobby-pin graveyard? Because I buy at least 6 packs of bobby pins a year and have NO idea where they all end up! So, to save your bobbys from impending doom, pick up a magnetic strip from the hardware store and use double sided foam tape to attach it to the inside of your cabinet. Or if you keep all those plumber’s magnets you get in the mail, just use them instead!
4. Fruit Basket
Often we hide pretty items away in our bathroom cupboard where they take up precocious room. Trawl through your vanity and pull out any pretty soap bottles, perfumes, hand creams etc that you could put on display instead. A fruit basket is a great way to store and present your pretty items by either placing it on the floor if it’s tall enough, or on top of your vanity or cistern. 5. Brush Vase
Who is guilty of keeping their makeup brushes in their cosmetic case? Yup, me too. But not after seeing this great trick! Keeping brushes easily accessible and clean is simple. Take a small vase and fill it with vase fillers such as sand, stones or crystals, then stick your brushes in it! Koch and Co have a great range of vase fillers in various colours here while The Makeup Box Shop sells this brush holder (pictured right) for $25.
